We really didn’t have much money to spend, all my clothes were hand-me-downs (mostly from my older boy-cousin, not fun when you are a teenage girl, and you have to wear boys’ clothes!). Taxi rides, tailored clothes, and massages, just to name a few.

While I'll ask friends for recommendations, I'll also ask people I meet while out and about, like my Uber driver, or staff at my hotel when I meet them in the elevator (cleaning staff mostly, because they are the regular people who have to budget and don't get anything for sharing those special spots. I recently got to spend a super day at the PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida with my friend Liz. Liz lives in Miami and we don’t get to see each other too often so a spa day in Palm Beach Gardens sounded perfect to us! The spa entryway was modern and welcoming.
