While we were still renting an apartment, I researched areas with lower property taxes, scouted out my ideal neighborhoods, and waited for a smaller, less expensive house to come on the market. The same goes for things like clothes. If they‘d still fit, I’d be content to continue to wear my clothes from the early 2000s.

My mom cut coupons and sewed her own clothes and mine, as well. Even though Alan was an IT professional by trade, his logical mind also understands what makes all kinds of mechanical things work, and he can repair just about everything I break. Alan and I, by choice, bought land in an area with low property taxes.
