Grandparenthood Can Be Expensive!

It never occurred to me to ask Mom or Mom-in-law to come watch my kids. Why are we spending more on our grandchildren? Expectations of our children. In my experience, my kids expect more of me for their kids than I expected of my parents for mine. We raised our children to expect more involvement.

Growing up in the 1950?s

Most of us did not have clothes dryers, we dried the clothes on a line outside. There was no polyester clothing. Clothing had to be ironed to look good. Gasoline stations did not serve food, have coffee or provide bath rooms. Most of us did not have air conditioned homes. Some of us did not have central heat.

My Best Garage Sale Finds

Years ago, Mom introduced me to the idea of going to garage sales. That way, I can hit a lot of sales in just a few hours instead of spending time and gasoline driving around town. If you want to buy kids toys or clothes, look for new home neighborhoods with lots of pre-school or grade school aged kids. I love a bargain.
