Learning to sew takes time and equipment. A super short history of sewing. In many parts of the US, people learned to sew as part of their life skills – from parents or family or schools. Although Mom didn’t sew much (she did mend), she made sure I took Home Ec in high school. Clothing is cheap, sewing is not.

Our son is 29 and biological. My mom cut coupons and sewed her own clothes and mine, as well. I learned from the best, but I believe that a personal finance course should be a requirement for both high school and college graduation. Just over the past week, our son replaced the fuel pump and exhaust system on his truck.
