My composting adventures all started about 9 years ago when our local Penn State Cooperative Extension office offered a free composting bin (the round one in the picture) when you attended their free composting seminar. I have a system going, but I am a laid back composter. So what did I learn at the seminar?

Going green for schools can be as simple as starting up a school vegetable garden, recycling waste or installing water tanks. Recycling the school’s waste can include establishing composting systems and worm farms to use as fertilizers for the garden. Find ways to reduce the amount of paper used within the school.

If you really want to send out paper invitations, use recycled or handmade paper and use a single sheet. Choose decorations that can be reused or that are made of natural materials and so can be recycled in the garden or compost. If you really need non-breakables, look for the clear polymer drinkware that is 100% recyclable.
