She envisioned me running out of gasoline and not being able to get home. At the time, I didn’t have credit cards so it was a valid concern. Occasionally merchants will discount the price because they don’t have to pay the credit card fees on your purchase. Some places do not accept credit cards.

I would be doubtful too if someone told me that, but the truth is that it’s rather easy to do if you have a rewards credit card and work hard to maximize your earning potential with it. It’s a pretty typical rewards card and the airline ones do just about the same. Use your card and you get points.
