My husband and I both want our kids to be creative and to use their imaginations. While I appreciate the thought, those toys don’t get used often, and I feel bad donating them or giving them away. If something is cheap at a garage sale, I may buy it even if I’m not sure that I’ll use it.

We do put up decorations (ones I buy at garage sales or thrift stores and reuse each year). Bring in your slightly used, but in good shape costume and pick one from those others brought in – as a swap. Encourage your child to use their imaginations to come up with a costume out of materials on hand at home.
