He felt he had to keep it to make sure that I could stay home with the babies and that we had food and shelter. Financial independence is defined by me as ‘not having to work for a living full time’ You don’t have to be a millionaire to have some financial independence. Plus, he felt trapped in the job.

We have sheep, an old goat, chickens, guineas, dogs & cats. We have significant food restrictions so sourcing our own is helpful health-wise & cost-effective too. Now-I’m a single parent who works part-time, cares for my elder mother, homeschools & runs a farm. This means funds are tight. Heavens, no.

He wants to retire early so he can do more woodworking, electronic fixing, and maybe work at a winery or brewery part-time. Our dog I don’t plan to fully retire, either. I love travel, but more so because I like trying new foods and spending time with loved ones. I haven’t decided yet.
