I have a rule now that if I want to buy a book, I need to donate one. I also will pay more for some specialty food items, as I have several food allergies to deal with, and we eat a no-sugar diet. I consoled myself with the thought that I rarely buy paper towels and use cloth napkins, so it all balances out.
