A person, trying to help a family member figure out how to pay taxes on their home and thus be able to keep possession of the fully paid off home suggested that the family member take in a roommate to earn some extra money. The intention was to get some extra money and get the real estate taxes paid.

Needs vs. Wants

Last summer in my Grandma Rie’s Money Camp, we gave the 3 kids advertisements from the Sunday paper and asked them first to identify and cut out things that were needs; and then to do the same with things that were wants. It is food, so maybe a need. Is butter a need or a want? That same decision holds true with everything.
