Schools usually only had one or two TVs available for the entire school. Food/shopping. Fast food was rare. There wasn’t a restaurant on every corner and people didn’t eat out much. Most food at the grocery store came from the USA. Out of season produce, if available at all, was super expensive.

Needs vs. Wants

Last summer in my Grandma Rie’s Money Camp, we gave the 3 kids advertisements from the Sunday paper and asked them first to identify and cut out things that were needs; and then to do the same with things that were wants. It is food, so maybe a need. A TV in every room. TV was family entertainment and watched as a family.
