When hubby gets on a collectible kick and buys expensive WWII artifacts, I get myself a new electronic toy, for instance. In fact, the non-working spouse may have an inclination to yield to this as well. At the time, I was working part time for about 8 hours a weekend, earning minimum wage.

I have an English degree and I work in scholarly book publishing as an editor (developmental and acquiring editor, not the grammar and spelling kind of editor). I mostly work remotely which is very, very nice. The cats In my free time, I (probably obviously, considering my career) love to read, and I’m in a local book club.

Now I’m living on the small acreage that I was raised on (which is now smack dab in the middle of town & 2 miles from work) with my mom & my two kids, 15 & 8. We teamwork together to homeschool-I was homeschooled until nursing school, and I am privileged to be teaching my kids & have my mom assist on the days I work.

A few years back, I hit my all-time high by borrowing 126 books over the course of one year. My dad was a blue-collar worker – a machine operator on the railroad who sometimes got laid off for periods of time in the winter.

Gently used clothing, baby items, furniture, electronics, small appliances, books, fitness equipment, and tools sell well. My husband drives for Uber every time he comes home from overseas and makes around $1000 a month working part-time. I worked one of these jobs in my 20s, and I loved it! Drive for Uber.
