If you are in more of a hurry, find a thrift store instead. Expect to pay a bit more in a thrift store, but if it is run by a charitable organization, you can feel good about paying a few bucks more because you are helping out the cause. Make it be known that that that there is nothing wrong in purchasing second-hand items from thrift stores, yard sales, or via classified ads or even online via places like eBay or Craigslist. You can even reward them with extra allowance with the money saved on gasoline and car upkeep.

People opened their windows and used attic fans or sat in metal lawn chairs outside to cool off. Gasoline stations did not serve food, have coffee or provide bath rooms. Ours was smaller (about 700 square feet) – 2 bedrooms (my brother and I shared one and my parents the other), a kitchen and a living room, No basement or garage.
