Many years ago, I got a little wooden chest from freecycle. The freecycle chest is pretty small. Sonia and I went to pick it up and I brought it home to sand and paint it. You can see some “after” pictures of it here, in this tour of Lisey’s room at the other house.

Look for a consignment shop in town, visit Freecycle web site, or check the Classifieds before you go to the store to buy new. Plant a Garden. Plant three or four things, just to get started. The added plants will help with the air quality around your home, and you’ll save money by growing your own food.

You can then take those old cell phones, clothes or magazines to the appropriate recycling depots, ustilize websites such as Craigslist or Freecycle to give away any items you want cleared out quickly and then have a yard sale or an online auction to rid yourself of those unwanted items that are still in saleable condition.
