Although my parents never specifically taught me about finances, they lived a frugal life by necessity. My mom cut coupons and sewed her own clothes and mine, as well. One is that Alan and I had decided even before we were married that we (1) wanted to retire early and (2) we didn’t want to wait until we retired to enjoy life.
