When my brother and I were growing up, our parents didn’t have much discretionary income. Although my parents never specifically taught me about finances, they lived a frugal life by necessity. Campsites are cheaper than hotel rooms, and because we can carry our own food with us, we don’t spend as much on restaurant meals.

It is not enough to get a degree somewhere in your twenties if you want to get somewhere careerwise (of course it is also totally fine to live a completely simple and frugal life). Another thing I splurge on is stays in hotels. And during summertime, you can grow many of them easily. And I mean continuous education.
