For 20 or so years I’ve been homeschooling my kids, and am now down to about 1 1/2 (one full-time homeschooler, and one doing College Credit Plus with some support). We rent now and are much happier. We’ve saved so much on home improvement projects–when you rent you don’t worry about such things!

When they got married, they bought a duplex so that the rent money from the tenant in the upstairs apartment would pay the mortgage. My biggest financial regret is the amount of money we spent on restaurant meals from the time we were married and both working full time to when we had kids. Alan doesn’t share that regret.
