I have always thought that “Christmas in July was a catch phrase made up by department stores to sell things in the slow summer months. . Apparently, according to multiple sources such as The Holiday Spot website, Wikipedia and various responders on Google Answers there really are actual Christmas celebrations in July.

Holiday time can be fun, but so very expensive and consequently stressful. Amidst the frantic schedules we keep all year long, the extra tasks thrown in for the holidays and all those expectations, sometimes we are just glad when it is all over. Save On Holiday Decorating. For many, the end of the year holiday shopping frenzy can override our saner, more thrifty selves. What should you wait to buy until after the holidays? Obviously, anything with decorations related to the holidays will most likely be reduced in price right after Christmas. Most claimed that the holiday sales were of no-name TVs.

Shop garage sales and thrift stores and estate sales. Christmas decorations, wrap, bows and ribbon all are continuous offerings at pretty much every garage sale, thrift store or estate sale I’ve ever shopped. Holiday tins are also bountiful at these sales. Shop the after Christmas sales.

Parents already know that back to school time is the second most expensive time of the year (right after the holidays). I love to shop garage sales. Learn to love hand me downs from relatives. Don’t be afraid to let the grandparents chip in. In our neighborhood folks buy really nice name brand clothing for their kids.

I find that even though my son’s birthday is so close to the holidays, it actually works out quite well, financially. No matter what time of year your child’s birthday is, look for holiday clearance year ’round to find items for their party. Not all holiday clearance will necessarily be themed.
