Home decor, costumes for the kiddies (and adults!), Once the kids left home, we ended up with zero trick or treaters at our house on a state highway. We do put up decorations (ones I buy at garage sales or thrift stores and reuse each year). Tip # 2 Recycle/reuse costumes. Tip # 4 on decorations.

Plan ahead and hit garage sales, but especially estate sales. Thrift stores are also a great place to shop. Reuse your own decorations. Buy a big roll of brown paper at Lowes or Home Depot and use it to wrap gifts. These make nice gifts too. They kind of look like the ones for sale at Curious Country Creations.

We put in new windows this year at our 1985 home. There are just two of us at home now. Plus, the styles that fit are usually made by the high end manufacturers and carried in exclusive (expensive) clothing stores. I wash and reuse freezer bags.
