Dad grew up on his parent’s farm with a wood stove, an outhouse and kerosene lamps. Mom and Dad always pointed out how much better off we were than our neighbors, because we were saving money and building up assets. Grandma put us kids to bed in the south bedroom when we stayed over at the farm. It was unheated.
