School started after Labor Day and ended after Memorial Day. Girls and women wore dresses or skirts. Girls could not wear pants or shorts to school. Gasoline stations did not serve food, have coffee or provide bath rooms. Heck, there were barely chain guards! Kids walked to school. Alone or with a friend.
