The Frugal Girl

So typically, the only brick-and-mortar store I go to the day after Thanksgiving is a grocery store. Grocery stores are wonderfully empty right after Thanksgiving! But here in Frugal Girl world, it’s business as usual. We did Thankful Thursday on Thanksgiving, and today we’re doing WIS, WWA on Black Friday.

I had trouble finding cream from Thanksgiving-Christmas last year. Wednesday Zoe didn’t get home until later, so she ate some leftover sandwiches. Sunday: Leftover lasagna from Saturday. Wednesday: I used the last of the leftover turkey and stock that I saved from Thanksgiving and made Turkey Orzo Soup. Thursday: Much to my family’s dismay, it’s leftover night. One daughter declared, “I hate leftover night!” It was tasty.

As our girls get older, our schedule gets more and more crazy. Our schedule is packed with Girl Scouts, swim team, holiday and school activities. In this version, I used rotisserie chicken from the store, but I’ve also used leftover turkey from Thanksgiving and leftover roasted chicken from Sunday dinner.

After feasting on turkey the week after Thanksgiving too, it’s safe to say that we’re a little tired of it. Sunday: We went out for a large lunch after church and just had leftovers for dinner. Tuesday: My husband and I had burrito bowls with the turkey and the girls ate the last of the Turkey & Waffles.
