It was the trip of a lifetime with our extended family (two sons, their spouses and two of our grandchildren). We also visited Devil’s Tower, the Badlands, Scotts Bluff National Monument, and the Battle of the Little Bighorn Monument, so we saved quite a few bucks just on this trip by getting a pass. After I started self-rental-management, we have been able to deduct some of the condo expenses from our personal taxes each year, resulting in some good tax savings. Gather the family.

Daughters and sons of very wealthy families sometimes want to disown the family wealth in order to prove themselves. Making sure the grandchildren have the desired benefits enhances their peace of mind. I felt it would give them control over me in some fashion and fiercely wanted my independence. I wanted to prove myself.

You may know that each year, for my two Grandchildren, I hold a camp I call Grandma Rie’s Money Camp. I’ve already gotten my son’s ok to get that started. We will package everything up and hand deliver it – saving on postage and getting and giving a bit of Holiday cheer.

For our 40th wedding anniversary, we chose to take our adult children and our grandchildren on a vacation to Yellowstone National Park. Perhaps it isn’t either of you that wants to renew, but your sons and daughters (you know, that generation where half the marriages end in divorce) think you should renew. We watched.
