For our 40th wedding anniversary, we chose to take our adult children and our grandchildren on a vacation to Yellowstone National Park. The parents of one of our daughter-in-laws chose to renew their vows on their 40th wedding anniversary. We had fun together and fun separately. Why do folks decide to renew their marriage vows?

It was the trip of a lifetime with our extended family (two sons, their spouses and two of our grandchildren). We also visited Devil’s Tower, the Badlands, Scotts Bluff National Monument, and the Battle of the Little Bighorn Monument, so we saved quite a few bucks just on this trip by getting a pass. Daughters and sons of very wealthy families sometimes want to disown the family wealth in order to prove themselves. Parental pride in ‘my daughter the doctor’ may play a role in their desire to fund at least part of school expenses. I wanted to prove myself. Family helps family – is a typical sentiment.
