Years ago, we rented a unit in one of two quadruplex buildings owned by our landlord. To save some money, we asked the landlord if we could start a vegetable garden in the area outside our unit. The landlord also let me pick some of the seeded concord grapes growing up the hill. Here’s how we saved money on rent.

Clark, our cat, the day after we brought him home from the shelter. We are very blessed that my husband earns enough so that I have been able to stay at home and homeschool–so my “why” in saving money is to balance that out. This only happened after we stopped owning homes and became renters.

Here are a few considerations when you are looking at which type of home to purchase: If you want space. If you are looking for a lot of space, you likely need to be looking at single family homes farther away from the cities. One thing that I can say about single family homes on a larger lot is that they are a lot of work.
