Rail trails are old railway lines that have been converted to multi-use paths designed for pedestrian, bicycle, skating, equestrian, and/or light motorized traffic. Local towns, libraries, malls and fire halls also host carnivals and festivals as fundraisers. They’ve also sold bottled water, homemade cookies, and crafts.
