We individual investors have all become market skittish since the recent huge recession and economic downturn. It may or may not turn out that way. I’d rather buy stocks at a lower price and sell them at a higher one if I can. It’s hard for me, emotionally to avoid trying to time the market. So, who do you believe?

I also wanted a bit more diversification in our portfolio and figured an additional piece of real estate could help that. Rental management companies may not distribute rental days evenly. Family members may not use it as much as anticipated. I was counting on an average of 4 months rentals. Hint: not mine.

Although we think of the Great Recession starting in early 2009, it wasn’t until 2013 that the 5 year CD interest rate fell below 1% – and has stayed there ever since according to Bank Rates interest survey data. Of course, depending on what we buy, we may experience some buyers remorse. Risk tolerance can dictate you save.
