Recycling is great for the environment and we should all be doing it (in spite of my title), but reusing is even better. When you can reuse or re-purpose an item, you are not only saving it from the landfills, but you are also saving the expense and energy which would have been expended when you recycle. We do put up decorations (ones I buy at garage sales or thrift stores and reuse each year). Tip # 2 Recycle/reuse costumes. Bring in your slightly used, but in good shape costume and pick one from those others brought in – as a swap. Re-purpose the used costume. Tip # 3 Use up your pumpkins.

Here are some ways we recycled our moving waste: Creative Ways to Use the Excess Supply. So far we’ve used the paper for the kids’ drawing and painting. We also plan to use some of it at Christmas for wrapping paper. When we ship items, we’ll use this paper as filler for the shipping box.

From using espaliering to grow apple trees in a container, to herbs, to a variety of vegetables , it’s possible to transform a small space into an effective container garden. It’s even possible to use eggshells as seed starts. Carefully break off the top part of the shell when you use eggs and save the larger bottom part.

Since I already had some sandrete (a kind of cement I use to fill the lines in my brick sidewalk), I decided to wait on getting a kit and do a bit more research. Petroleum jelly to slather on the inside of the mold, so you can get the concrete out and reuse the mold. Something to use to write messages on the wet cement.
