While I LOVE to shop at thrift stores, the thought of going to a stranger’s home was a bit scary to me– a former 24/7 news junkie. What thrifty finds did you find this week?

With my list, I went to my favorite thrift store to see what I could find. I only shop there on Wednesdays to take advantage of their 50% off sale. What I’m still looking for at the thrift stores: shorts. I’m very particular about what I buy at the thrift stores. Do you shop at thrift stores?

So instead of heading to a retail store, I hit my favorite thrift store (on a Wednesday for their 50% off sale) to see if I would have any luck. With the 50% off sale, both items were each $2.50. While I am not that thrifty, and I love prettily wrapped gifts, I don’t like to spend a bunch on wrappings. Shop garage sales and thrift stores and estate sales. Holiday tins are also bountiful at these sales. Shop the after Christmas sales. Use paper drop cloth to wrap.

Don’t spend too much money on a sun tea jar, I see them at yard sales and thrift stores all of the time. This post is linked to Thrifty Thursday. I stopped adding sugar years ago and now prefer adding my homemade herb-flavored simple syrup to each individual glass. It is so much better this way. Do you drink iced tea?

For many, the end of the year holiday shopping frenzy can override our saner, more thrifty selves. Sure I knew about the ‘White sales’ – the ones stores used to have in January on sheets and towels and such, but I really hadn’t a clue that there is a best time to buy many other things! I know I do. Winter clothes.
