Everyone chips in though, but my mom and two aunts cook the bulk of the food. Saturday: I am roasting a turkey for my family, mostly for the leftovers, but also so the 4 of us can sit down as a family for a big meal. My mother hosted her side of the family. Friday: Soup and grilled cheese night.

I recently shared Aunt Tessie’s Kugel with you which is very rich and creamy. I usually double the recipe to make two of the 8×8 pans so there are leftovers! My family makes another kind of kugel that is still sweet and delicious but much lighter! It’s served as a side dish just as it is.

They were the leftovers. Step 2: leftovers. any leftovers left and/or stockpile days. note: my aunt will make her weekly meals on Saturday’s and Sunday’s and put them in the freezer. I paid it all in cash (try not to pay in credit cards…). now how do I do it? Thus no food went to waste.

My Aunt, God rest her soul, saved Christmas paper and those silly little paper bows from year to year. Do you have some leftover wall paper you won’t be using? My parents and their siblings were of the generation that grew up during the depression in the 1930′s. Be unusual. And, yes, save your paper.

My aunt told me. The days I do cook, Sunday for example, I hope to have enough for leftovers for another day. I saved money and have one less thing I need to shop. Food: I do a monthly menu plan. I take what I have in my pantry, check out my kids sports schedule and plan accordinly. Kids clothes: I shop clearance.
