Garage sales – I found a guitar for $5.00 once at a garage sale and bought it for my grandson. We rented our son’s alto saxophone while he took lessons in high school. Experimenting with musical instruments should be part of every child’s growing up experience, at least in my book.

I love to shop garage sales. Rent Don’t Buy. If your child is wanting to take music lessons, think about renting the instrument instead of buying. College students have the option of renting books now. There are multiple online sites that let students rent, buy used or sell books.
