Download another budget (but save under a different name) for your other yearly gift giving. Gift giving isn’t just a December sport. We need to plan for gift giving all year long.

In fact, one of my favorite things to do at the end of December each year is to set financial goals for the new year. I’m convinced that I’ve had such good luck achieving many of my financial goals because I write them down and keep myself accountable. If you set unachievable goals, you’ll likely give up early.

We have a gift-giving line in our budget, but when I sat down to create my own budget, I realized that our original amount just didn't cover all of the expenses from this past year. I've never been diligent about transferring the Christmas money into a separate account. So, how did I do in January? My monthly goal is $100.

In previous years, I would create a long list of financial goals, only to have little accomplished by the end of the December. In 2018, we decided to focus on just 2 main financial goals and before I share my 2019 goals I thought I would give you a recap on 2018. I almost stopped writing goals down altogether. 1 – DONE!!

I have now decided to add gift giving to the list of cash categories. I then divided that new number by 12 and that is the dollar amount that I am going to transfer to a savings account every month. I'll use that money through out the year for birthday gifts along with Christmas presents in December.

On the 25th of every month from January to November in 2013, I'm holding a virtual meeting for the Christmas Savings Club.
