The Frugal Girl

Monday I found a package of chicken tenderloins in the freezer, so I thawed them and then seasoned and sauteed half of them. Tuesday I sauteed the rest of the chicken tenderloins and used them in a green salad, with homemade croutons on top. I love homemade croutons; they make a salad 10 times better, at least!

The Frugal Girl

Monday I found a small package of ground beef in the freezer along with some homemade burger buns so…we had burgers for dinner, topped with Swiss cheese. Friday Zoe and I are gonna have a movie night, so we might get some takeout. Fruit on the side. What did you have for dinner this week?

Sunday I went freezer spelunking and found a jar of homemade butter chicken sauce, a bag with two chicken thighs, and a package of marked-down naan. Friday My fridge is a little bare but man, I hate going to the grocery store prior to a holiday. I cut up some produce for a side. We had some fruit on the side.

I found 2 (3 lb) packages of ground turkey marked down to $4 each. I browned both packs at once and added 3 cans of black beans, water, and my homemade taco seasoning. Monday: Tacos, fruit.

Whole Foods is having another one-day sale tomorrow (Friday, 11/8/13). Bake them into a sweet, flaky pie or slice and dice them for some sweet homemade applesauce. Like many other fruits, they’re low in calories and free of fat, sodium and cholesterol — a pretty perfect snack in a naturally portable package.
