Garage sales – I found a guitar for $5.00 once at a garage sale and bought it for my grandson. Musical instrument exchanges – some sites let owners list and buyers browse used instrument sales. We rented our son’s alto saxophone while he took lessons in high school. Find A Used Instrument.

I used an old seat cushion I had and wrapped it with brand new material from another garage sale to pretty it up and make it softer, then stacked new throw pillows I found at yet another sale for $.50 I used it for years and sold it – for $25 – last summer in my own garage sale. Glass leftover containers 3 for $.75.

I had three baby showers when I was pregnant for my son–one from each side of the family and one from my co-workers. Many of the other items I needed like cloth diapers and clothes for the baby in bigger sizes I bought from garage sales. There was very little I had to buy for my child after these showers.

I took at least three trunks full of “stuff” to Goodwill, I had a garage sale, and I sold things online. I’ve taken pictures of my son’s favorite preschool paintings and drawings, and when I see a good deal on photo books, I’m going to create one for him and toss the originals.

My son recently became very interested in Star Wars, so we threw him a Star Wars-themed party for his birthday this year! That meant I had to be pretty creative for my son’s party.
