We are in what I call our “shovel season of life” Our oldest daughter leaves for college in the fall of 2024 and we have a big savings goal to hit before then.

They can cause a panic, especially when just one bill is into the four figures, like our property taxes or auto insurance! Our home owner’s insurance, auto insurance, and local real-estate taxes (for our home and our business property) are due, and on top of that, there have been years where we also owed the Federal government.

Our home-owner’s insurance, auto insurance, and local real-estate taxes (for our home and our business property) are due, and on top of that, we also owed the Federal government this year. We were no longer required to send an escrow payment to the bank for our real estate taxes and home owners insurance.

In April, we received a small tax refund and I put $100 of our refund into our Christmas Savings account. In May, I made money from a yard sale and put $50 towards our Christmas savings. I also earned $20 from Ibotta and $7 from Ebates, and found $23 within our May budget.

According to an article that was published on Investment News last June, it costs approximately $235,000 to raise a child and that’s not even counting their college tuition ! Do I Have Health Care Insurance? . They are miracles, they are blessings and something else that they are is very expensive.

I also earned $20 from Ibotta and $7 from Ebates, and found $23 within our May budget. We also sold our beloved pop-up camper.
