We planned our purchase in the heady days just prior to the recession of 2008/2009. Gather the family. We paid around $200,000 in 2007 for the property with an extra amount for furnishings and a slip in a yet-to-be-built boat dock. Our family has gathered multiple times across the years to enjoy the condo and the area.

Hubby retired in July 2007. Then the Great Recession hit so I postponed for a few years. In 2010, my company was just preparing to do their first round of recession related layoffs. So far, I have been so busy with my web sites ( Family Money Values and Bellyfat ) that I haven’t had time to explore any of the other ideas.

With the advent of the Great Recession, today’s populations are re-learning frugality and expense reduction. By feeding our family of four at home for 20 years we saved $168,768. On average a typical family will spend about $50 a month to go out to a concert, the movies, an amusement park and etc.
