If you think back to Dec 16, 2012, our country was reeling from the massacre that happened just two days prior at Sandy Hook Elementary School. We live no where near CT, but at the time, I had a first grader and I just couldn’t shake what the parents of those murdered children were going through. Life seemed unfair and uneven.

When she saw that her great-grandchildren were not writing thank you notes for her gifts to them, she sent their parents a set of Thank you note cards with envelopes and postage! A 2012 study , reported in Personality and Individual Differences found that an attitude of gratitude correlated positively with self-reported heath.

percent of all vacation trips now consist of grandparents, parents and children traveling together. My parents not only traveled with siblings and children, but also took my children on vacation with them. But our best trip was in 2012, when we funded a trip to Yellowstone with our two sons, their wives and our grandchildren.
