Gasoline : We currently budget $75 a week for gasoline which translates to a tank of gas for our van. Groceries: When I got a raise earlier in 2014, we increased our weekly grocery budget from $125 to $150. Cutting our monthly investment for the future would be a last resort.

Many things we have in 2014 weren’t available in all locations. Gasoline stations did not serve food, have coffee or provide bath rooms. The Sunday newspaper was the best source to get them. You physically went from store to store (or called on the phone) to compare prices and products. No, I didn’t wear a poodle skirt!
