Head to different playgrounds and see which ones your kids/grandkids want to go to. Playgrounds are fun in themselves but sometimes you need that little extra activity to make the trip worth it.

Although I live 200+ miles away from my two grandkids, I try to get them for a week or so during the summer. There are many documented benefits to utilizing grandparents to watch grandkids. I’m one of them. On special occassions, now that I’m retired, I go to their house to watch them.

In Huffington Post article Boomers Give New Meaning To Spoiling The Grandkids author Linda Stern reported: “Roughly 36 percent of the grandparents surveyed by AARP said “spoiling (grand)children by buying them too much” was a part of a grandparent’s financial role.”. It’s my grandkid!”.

One of our son’s and his wife peeled out after touring Yellowstone, while our other son, wife and grandkids went with us to a few other destinations prior to heading home. Another time, my spouse and I took a Yellow Bus tour – sans kids or grandkids. You may be on the hook for activity fees, car rentals, souvenirs and more.

My Grandkids have grown up visiting the lake condo and love it. We used it as a home base to explore many activities and attractions within a days drive. We paid $25k up front for a boat slip that never sold, had to sue to get the money back and ended up getting $9000 more than we paid out for the slip and the legal fees.
