Tip # 1 – Be a curmudgeon and just don’t celebrate the night. Once the kids left home, we ended up with zero trick or treaters at our house on a state highway. No kids = no money on candy = no candy wrappers in the landfill. We do put up decorations (ones I buy at garage sales or thrift stores and reuse each year).

Am I Frugal – or Cheap?

The original windows were builder grade, two pane thermal ones. The seals on many of the panes had broken, causing the inside of the panes to fog over and some were permanently scarred. After living with windows through which we couldn’t see for at least 5 years, we finally broke down and had new ones installed.
