My Aunt, God rest her soul, saved Christmas paper and those silly little paper bows from year to year. Here are some thoughts on ways to save money when you wrap this years gifts. that is more or less equivalent to 5 big rolls of printed Christmas wrapping paper, which costs around $3 per roll – a savings of around $6 overall.

My aunt just retired in October and bought a house very close to mine and will be moving from Boston to south Florida in the next couple weeks. My aunt was never married and didn’t have kids so my brother and I are it for her. But I want it to be team effort and we both have tendencies to not save.

As a child, I grew up on a road that didn’t have a lot of houses, so while trick or treat was fun for me and my brother, we only came home with a handful of candy. My favorite memory of trick or treat was that my great Aunt Alice who lived 2 houses down from us gave out FULL sized Clark bars.

Their Sleep Sheep saved my life as a new mom and while my younger son still uses the Sleep Sheep, my older son adores his Twilight Turtle. As a new mom, this saved my life. Our second new addition is actually my brother’s. I finally get to be an Aunt and I can’t wait! Very exciting.

My fiance and I are hosting Christmas this year, which for me means that my mom and stepdad are driving from my home town to spend the week with us, and my aunt is coming from about an hour away to feast. This allows us to cash in on the savings without watching our money go in the garbage by food waste. Cutting Down.
