Look at everything coming out of your bank account and ask yourself what you can cancel, and don’t pay for services that do the same thing. Don’t spend it!! Move the money you save into savings.

That did teach us a lesson about home ownership: that it was something we were taught was a mark of being an adult, but really, when you “own” a home, unless you’ve paid off the mortgage, the bank is your landlord and you’re just renting. We rent now and are much happier. Also we can stop when we want or need to.
