The rent-purchase agreement allows the buyer to live in the home while paying the seller rent, and the part of the rent goes toward the home’s sale price. If the buyer still can’t get a loan at the end of the rental term, the seller can finance the deal themselves or keep the buyer as tenant.

Years ago, we rented a unit in one of two quadruplex buildings owned by our landlord. Our 2 bed unit was in a building with a central hallway and a basement.
