All I had to do was what my grandmother had taught me. For the clothes and shoes for my kids, I look for sales. I buy them on sale, with the exception the kids feet grow when there is no sale (for gym shoes). And when I buy them on sale, I usually buy for the next size up. Then I have no choice.

I never really figured out what I want to be when I grow up so I’ve done a lot of different things. Not fancy shoes, but quality shoes that support my feet (like Kristen’s Altra’s). I’ve always bought good shoes for my kids, too. I’m 52. I almost always have a side gig going.

Splurges: Shoes, books and art supplies. Good shoes are essential for me, as I have accessory navicular syndrome and like to be active. I have a rule now that if I want to buy a book, I need to donate one. Easiest part of being frugal: Not buying things like junk food at the grocery store. Also, growing our own food.
