Fashion changes and new or nearly new clothing gets sold at sales or donated to charity. I can park my car and walk from sale to sale, getting a bit of exercise, enjoying the fine weather and seeing the architecture and landscaping of the homes along the way. I hate waste and I see it all the time. Outdoor bench (I refurbished it) $5.

Ways to Make Do With What You Have

Make old t-shirts and dish cloths into rags to use when dusting or washing the car and etc. Donate good clothing you really can’t use to a non-profit and bank the tax deduction. If you maintain it by changing the oil, rotating the tires and keeping it clean you are well on your way to having a serviceable car for years.

It Amazes Me What People Throw Away

Why wouldn't you donate it to Goodwill? Last summer, a different neighbor was cleaning out their garage and put a Sears Cargo Carrier for the top of your car to the curb. We immediately realized that there was nothing wrong with the bike. We'll eventually pass it on to another neighbor who is having a baby girl in July.

There is a lovely thrift store not far from my neighborhood that receives donations from the folks in the local golfing gated community. I wash my own car with a bucket and a rag.
