I made one trip to my favorite thrift store during their dollar days sale. I found a pair of blue jeans for myself for $3 and some clothes for my daughters for $1 a piece. I need spring clothes and I always find the cutest name brand tops at BJ’s at decent low prices. My mother recently borrowed some luggage from us for a plane trip. Can I find what I need at a second hand or thrift store? I have found new or gently worn name brand clothing, snow gear, shoes, household stuff, and books.

But I also found success at a thrift store. At that time, I had not reviewed my own spring clothing and I have plenty of time to go back to Target if I can’t find something suitable (and cute) at the thrift store. My mother recently borrowed some luggage from us for a plane trip. Can I find what I need at a second hand or thrift store? In 2015, the monthly challenge will be Choose Thrift First. While I love thrift stores, I can be easily swayed to run into Target or Kohl’s when I’m in that part of town. I’ve put a band-aid on the situation by using plastic tubs for her clothes and a plastic drawer unit for her socks and underwear.

My mother was loving and worked so hard to provide for us, but it was frequently a struggle to get food, keep heat on, and other necessities. As an adult, I can see it was likely a mixture of not enough income, high cost of living area, mismanagement of money, and kids just being expensive for single mothers particularly.
