Considering that many of us have walk in closets that house more clothes than we can wear in three months, it’s easy to see how her philosophy would lead to a lot less clutter, expense, and environmental cost.

A couple of days ago on one of my visits, I noticed 2 entire clothing racks filled with Halloween costumes and/or clothing items. My favorite thrift store has a section dedicated to seasonal items. The number and variety of Halloween items in this thrift store surprised me.

We shopped at garage sales, turned down the heat, combined errands to use less gas, didn’t buy a lot of prepared food, cooked at home and the like. We mowed the grass, made our clothes, cleaned house, cooked , and fixed broken stuff. We didn’t have a clothes dryer. We line dried all of our clothes, summer or winter.
