Sure I knew about the ‘White sales’ – the ones stores used to have in January on sheets and towels and such, but I really hadn’t a clue that there is a best time to buy many other things! Winter clothes. Brand name TVs. Most claimed that the holiday sales were of no-name TVs.

Most of us did not have air conditioned homes. People opened their windows and used attic fans or sat in metal lawn chairs outside to cool off. Most of us did not have clothes dryers, we dried the clothes on a line outside. Some of us did not have central heat. There was no polyester clothing.

Most of us can’t get by without some sort of phone. It allows loved ones to contact us, and it can be useful when you are in an emergency situation. TVs, cable, Internet service, certain clothes, particular foods, and even some social activities. Is That REALLY a Need? You need to be able to draw that line.
