Shop garage sales and thrift stores and estate sales. Christmas decorations, wrap, bows and ribbon all are continuous offerings at pretty much every garage sale, thrift store or estate sale I’ve ever shopped. Holiday tins are also bountiful at these sales.

We do put up decorations (ones I buy at garage sales or thrift stores and reuse each year). Use the pulp for pumpkin bread, cookies, pies, soups and more. Once the kids left home, we ended up with zero trick or treaters at our house on a state highway. No kids = no money on candy = no candy wrappers in the landfill.

Garage or estate sales. Thrift shops. I scouted for tiles as I went to garage sales for other items and was lucky enough to find not only a big lot of beautiful travertine tiles, but also two very usable Kohler bath faucets – for which we bought one replacement part off the Kohler repair site.
