Since my blog is set up as a business, I could deduct the expense – or at least depreciate the asset over time – reducing my taxes. So, hey, I guess I can take the tax reduction next year as well as this! However, I wait until spring and summer to buy decorations – and get them at garage sales. Winter clothes. Other tips.

Donate good clothing you really can’t use to a non-profit and bank the tax deduction. A good deal on a big bag of fresh lettuce isn’t thrifty if you can’t use it up before it rots. Use up your food. Plan uses for your leftovers. With fresh food – buy only what you can eat before it goes bad.

I love to shop garage sales. When you do, go on tax free day. using tax free days. Here is site that has tax free days by state listed for 2011. What a deal. Learn to love hand me downs from relatives. Don’t be afraid to let the grandparents chip in. Use your card for the other purchases you make as well.
